Although the .308 cartridge is arguably the world's most popular Law Enforcement & Military sniper round, in urban areas, there is an undeniable risk of over-penetration and resultant collateral damage. In such environments, the .223 cartridge may provide a compromise of reduced kinetic energy and, with proper frangible bullet selection, a significantly lower risk of bystander injury through ricochet. The same assembly techniques are used by Tactical Rifles to build our 'M40-223' as our 'M40'. A McMillan M40 stock is utilized along with tactical floorplate and a heavy match grade .223 barrel. Then all external metalwork is given, as with every one of our 1/2MOA guaranteed rifles, an 'extreme environment' finish prior to leaving the custom shop. For medium range surgical precision with negligible recoil the 'M40-223' offers a viable solution in appropriate tactical situations.
